MOVING TO PARADISE!

As I mentioned in my first post, I had failed to keep up with my previous blog after 30 posts.... Hopefully with this move and now with a toddler, I will have many wonderful and interesting things/events to talk about!

Well anyway, hubby and I made the decision to move to Mauritius (where DH is from) when our son Leo was born. We thought that it would be the best thing for our son to grow up surrounded by greenery, in a more peaceful environment and where life moves just a little slower than the hectic city of London.

I'd lived in London all my life and Mauritius is so much more laid-back, it's almost too slow for me sometimes. lol

It's been a year since making the big move and although there are many differences in lifestyle, culture, food etc it hasn't been too difficult to adapt (though I do miss the Japanese food as there are no proper Japanese restaurants in Mauritius)

One thing I do miss terribly is the shopping! but thankfully Asos, House of Fraser and a few other retailers ships to Mauritius so I guess it isn't all that bad.

But on the other hand, it's nice to have a warm climate all year round and it's such a luxury to be able to pop down to the beach anytime to spend some quality time with friends and family. Also, if we want to take some time out, all we need to do is pop down to one of the many hotels across the island to have a mini holiday!

I thought it would be a difficult move for me and I must admit that I was extremely homesick for the first few months but thankfully we were able to take a trip back to London after 6 months and catch up with family and friends which was lovely.

Now it's been another 6 months after coming back from London but the homesickness isn't as bad as before. Sure, I miss my family very and of course the shopping, food galore and believe it or not the weather, but for raising a family, I'm starting to accept that may be Mauritius is not a bad place to start!
